When not to consult ADEC
Knowing where the role stops is part of the method. Some choices do not carry structural weight, and do not belong in this practice.
The firm is sometimes asked for what it does not offer. A refusal here is not elevation — it protects the decision path.
Not consulted on operational rhythm
Improving a standing procedure, selecting a vendor inside an approved mandate, or an administrative dispute settled in daily governance: these decisions are necessary, but they do not open or close a trajectory that is hard to reverse.
Not consulted as a named service request
Work does not begin from “we need a strategy,” “we need governance,” or “we need a transformation.” It begins from a posed decision: a partnership, a commitment, a structure, an impact. If there is no decision, there is no path to calibrate.
Not embedded in execution
The engagement ends when the decision path is complete. ADEC does not replace the operating team, and does not remain inside the institution after resolution. Authority — and execution — stay with those who bear them.
If the choice is of the second kind — structural weight, difficulty of reversal, and need for a reviewable path — that is where the work begins.
